In this section of the passage Winston was going home after the pub he visited."There was no doubting any longer that the girl was spying on him" (Orwell 85).While walking on an obscure back street to his home in the evening, there was a dark haired woman with blue overalls and it seemed like she was following him. Winston felt paranoid by the thought of the thought police capturing him for his actions against big brother. She was the girl from the Fiction department, Winston was frightened by thought of the party members catching on to him. Winston had no idea what she was looking for or what she was after, Winston was paranoid. Winston had reason to believe that his actions will have him vaporized sooner or later by the thought police and was horrified of the consequences.
