Paragraph Analysis

In the novel 1984, Winston is a simple man and every man has a bit of doubt that may consume them eventually, and that is exactly what is happening to him. Winston has been under the presumption that the Ministry of Truth, where he is currently working at, is being corrupt. The whole idea of Big Brother to him is starting to sound unjust to the citizens of Oceania. One night he happens to take a different route then he usually does, he goes to a pub and the to the store, but on his way home he sees that a girl with dark hair was following him. Winston panicked believing that she had discovered that he had committed a crime, at home he began to think of suicide. His mind began to overthink, his paranoia grew, he instantly took out his diary, but could not think of anything to write. “He tried to think of O'Brien, for  whom, or to whom, the diary  was written, but instead began thinking of the thing that would happen to him after the Thought Police took him away" (Orwell 87).  That night Winston  kept seeing Big Brothers image, but it soon drifted back to O'Brien and the horrendous slogan he would never forget, 

WAR IS PEACE 

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.
