Orwell expected in 1984 that televisions will become more realistic with the senses of listening and the power to be watching every little move you make. Another consequence is that you would not be able to turn it off, in case you try to do something that it is not suppose to be done.
"The instrument (the tele screen, it was called) could be dimmed, but there was no way of shutting it off completely." (Orwell 6)
